Dr. Zhisong Qu is an Assistant Professor in the School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, at Nanyang Technological University. Before joining NTU, he was a research fellow and postdoctoral researcher in Mathematical Sciences Institute, at the Australian National University (ANU). He received his PhD in plasma physics from the Research School of Physics, ANU, and his B.S. degree from the School of Physics, Peking University, China.
Dr. Qu is interested in the application of machine learning algorithms to plasma physics problems and experimental data processing. His research also focuses on the theory and modelling of plasmas in magnetic confinement fusion experiments. In particular, he is interested in three-dimensional magnetic field configurations and magnetohydrodynamic waves driven by fusion-born or externally heated fast ions.
