Dr Xavier Garbet graduated from Ecole Normale Supérieure Paris in 1985 and got the Agrégation in Physics. He received a PhD degree from Aix-Marseille University in 1988, and the Habilitation à Diriger des Recherches in 2001. He is presently Research Director at CEA, France. His current research interests are related to magnetic fusion energy. His scientific work is mainly dedicated to turbulent transport and stability issues, covering theory, modelling and experiments, for which he received the CNRS silver medal in 2010. X. Garbet has co-authored 255 publications in peer-reviewed journals (H factor = 50), supervised 14 PhD students and 7 post-docs, and led several European projects.
